  • You can secure your account with Authenticator App (TOTP) or Email verification, or disable MFA (not recommended).
  • MFA can be changed at any time under Account → Multi-Factor-Authentication.
  • If you lose access to your MFA (phone/app or email), contact AMDT Support with proof of account ownership.

1) First-time MFA setup (right after registration)

After your first login, you’ll be prompted to choose an MFA method. You may also disable MFA here (again: not recommended).

MFA welcome screen offering Authenticator App, Email verification, and a link to disable MFA.

Choose one option:

Option A: Authenticator App (recommended)

  1. Click Set up with App.
  2. On your phone, open a TOTP authenticator (e.g., Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy, Aegis).
  3. Scan the QR code (or enter the setup key manually).
  4. Enter the 6-digit code shown in your app to verify and finish.

Option B: Email Verification

  1. Click Set up with Email.
  2. We’ll send a one-time code to your registered email address.
  3. Enter the code to verify and finish.
Why we recommend the Authenticator App: strongest protection, works offline, industry standard.

2) Change MFA later (from Account settings)

You can switch methods or disable MFA at any time.

1. Click your user avatar (top right) → Account.

User menu expanded with Account highlighted.

2. In Account, open the Multi-Factor-Authentication card.

Account tiles, including Multi-Factor-Authentication with a Set up button.

3. On the MFA settings page, pick one of:

  • Authenticator App (TOTP)
  • Email Verification
  • Deactivate MFA (not recommended)
The page layout may differ slightly depending on your current method, but the actions are the same: select method → follow the on-screen steps.

3) Method overview (quick comparison)

MethodSecurityWorks offlineExtra app neededBest for
Authenticator App (TOTP)★★★ (highest)YesYesDaily use, admins, license owners
Email Verification★★No (requires email access)NoOccasional users
Disable MFA--Not recommended

4) Locked out? (Lost phone/app or email access)

If you can’t complete MFA because you lost access to your authenticator app or email:

  1. Contact AMDT via the AMDT contact form at the bottom of the website.
  2. Provide proof of ownership for the account. Acceptable examples:
    • Request sent from the same email address registered on the account, and
    • A screenshot of your license number from a running octoplant system (or other evidence tying you to the licensed environment).
  3. Our team will guide you through identity verification and help restore access.

Troubleshooting

  • No email code received → Check spam/junk; verify the registered email; request a new code.
  • Authenticator code “invalid” → Ensure phone time is set to auto/synced; wait for the next 30-second code; re-scan the QR if needed.
  • “Set up with App/Email” button missing → Open Account → Multi-Factor-Authentication again; refresh the page; ensure you’re logged into the correct myAMDT account.

Security tips

  • Keep MFA enabled; only disable temporarily if absolutely necessary.
  • If changing phones, migrate your authenticator accounts first (export/import) before resetting MFA.
  • Never share one-time codes or QR setup keys.
